SCIENCE PROJECTS ARE DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE FOR
THE SOCOM SBIR PROGRAM.

SOCOM participates in the first DoD SBIR solicitation of each fiscal year and anticipates including five to eight topics in the solicitation for the foreseeable future. Urgent out of cycle technology requirements will be included in follow-on solicitations at the discretion of the SOCOM SBIR Program Manager.
SOCOM conducts an internal call for candidate SBIR topics (April to June of each year) for innovative technologies needed to resolve SOF Warfighter technology deficiencies. Most SOCOM SBIR topics are expected to transition to an existing program of record. All SOCOM technology pursuits are closely managed whether they are technology push or requirements pull efforts.
SOCOM accepts candidate SBIR topics from private industry including large businesses. As with internal SOCOM SBIR topics, these external topics will likewise require a SOCOM Program Executive Officer's endorsement before it can be considered. Only approved candidate topics are included in the DoD SBIR Solicitation.
